  Snake River Review

Student Essays Exploring Idaho History

The Snake River Review, our annual publication of essays written by regional high school students, also saw great success. Our sixth edition became available to the public on August 15th. This year's published authors are: David Pace, Lauren Braden, Tiffanie Franco, William Frei, Elizabeth Browning, Paul Tomechko, Rita Beard, and Michelle Klingler. These authors received a $500 scholarship from the Museum of Idaho. Special thanks go to the presenting sponsor, the Maeck Family Foundation, for providing financial support to this program.

Former Attorney General for the State of Idaho, Larry EchoHawk, provided the keynote address at the awards ceremony August 15th. The Snake River Review program expanded this year to include a writing course for educators. Participants earned college credits and received writing training from two of Idaho Falls most respected teachers, Jim Francis and Mark Hatch. The participants also wrote essays that will be published in a special edition of the Snake River Review in the fall. Due to the success of this year's course, the Museum of Idaho expects to offer it again next year.
